DakshinaChitra's signature Margazhi Village Festival opens with a special Padayani folk performance by a troupe from Kerala. Padayani, traditionally performed in temple settings in honour of Goddess Bhadrakaali, is known for its striking costumes, elaborate masks, rhythmic movements and powerful drumming, rooted in the cultural traditions of central Kerala.
